HEIN is delivering the Woodvale Pentecostal Church Expansion, a 26,700 sq. ft. addition to the church’s existing facility at 205 Greenbank Road in Ottawa. The new two-storey addition combines structural steel and glulam timber construction and will create a youth- and community-focused wing, expanding Woodvale Pentecostal Church’s ability to serve children, youth, families, and the broader community throughout the week.
The project includes a gymnasium, café, multipurpose room, youth theatre, activity room, commercial kitchen, administration areas, washrooms, storage, and service spaces. Several existing functions will be relocated into the new addition, improving access, visibility, and flow between the church’s worship, activity, and gathering spaces.
Positioned along Greenbank Road, the addition will create a stronger and more active presence for the church. A new covered entrance and plaza area will support arrival, gathering, and informal connection, while large two-storey windows will bring natural light into the building and open key interior spaces toward the surrounding neighbourhood.
The design carries forward elements of the existing church while introducing a more contemporary frontage. Exterior features include charcoal metal panels, framed glazing, timber supports, and an articulated canopy with a warm copper-coloured finish. The project also incorporates sustainable design measures, including energy-efficient windows and high-albedo roof materials.
Expected to be completed in fall 2026, the expansion will add significant new program space to Woodvale Pentecostal Church’s facility and support its continued role as a place of worship, youth programming, family gathering, and weekday community use in Ottawa’s west end.
