History

HEIN (originally founded as Mueller-Hein Corporation) was started in Ottawa in 1988 by Roland Hein and Helmut Mueller, providing general construction services for clients and owners primarily throughout Eastern Ontario. Upon the retirement of Mr. Mueller in the year 2000, the company changed its name to R.E. Hein Construction, but continued to provide the same services, and expand its client base both in the City and throughout Ontario.

Following the passing of Mr. Hein in 2013, the operation and ownership of the company was taken over by the then-employee shareholders of R.E. Hein Construction, with the addition of Mr. Mark Dalton, a veteran in the construction industry and a former employee of the company, who joined the team in the role of President. Today, HEIN has expanded to a full-service construction management, general contracting and design-build firm, and continues to provide services throughout the Province of Ontario.

HEIN was developed as, and continues to be, a company that values teamwork and partnership, not only internally, but also with its clients, suppliers and subcontractors. It is through the strength and expertise of its dedicated staff of construction professionals that HEIN is able to continue to provide its clients with innovative construction solutions.

In August, 2018, HEIN re-organized itself and is proud to now be a wholly employee owned and operated company. With the ownership transition came the launch of a new corporate name, and “HEIN” was born. Even with its new structure, the company remains rooted in being a full-service construction management, general contracting and design-build firm, that continues to provide services throughout the Province of Ontario.
