HEIN delivered the Ottawa Police Station – East Division for the City of Ottawa under a Lump Sum delivery method, constructing a 27,000 sq. ft. public safety facility in Orléans. Located on St-Joseph Boulevard near Tenth Line Road, the station was built to support Ottawa Police Service operations in the city’s east end while providing a public-facing point of access for residents requiring police services.
The two-storey facility brings together a range of operational, administrative, and secure-use spaces within a compact civic building. Program areas include a booking and detention facility, vehicle investigation bay, administration areas, and interview rooms, requiring careful coordination between public access, controlled circulation, staff work areas, and secure operational functions.
Constructed with a structural steel frame, the building is clad with masonry and curtain wall glazing, with decorative wood timber framing contributing warmth and character to the exterior. The result is a durable public safety facility that balances the practical requirements of a police station with a more approachable civic presence within the surrounding community.
The completed station strengthened Ottawa Police Service’s east-end infrastructure, supporting frontline operations, public reporting, collision reporting, and community-facing services from a dedicated facility in Orléans. With secure spaces, public service areas, vehicle-related functions, and administrative support brought together under one roof, the project required the specialized coordination essential to municipal public safety construction.
