HEIN is delivering École secondaire catholique Riverside-Sud for the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est, constructing a new 100,000 sq. ft. high school in Ottawa’s Riverside South community. The two-storey building features a structural steel frame on concrete foundations and will provide modern learning, athletic, arts, childcare, and gathering spaces for students, staff, and the surrounding school community.
The new school will include classrooms, staff offices, laboratory spaces, technical shop spaces, music and drama rooms, art rooms, a library, daycare space, a cafeteria, and a triple gymnasium with a stage. A central atrium will serve as one of the building’s main interior features, with an open stair and bridge connecting the second floor while overlooking the lobby, cafeteria, and stage areas.
The project also includes a large curtain wall overlooking the exterior courtyard, helping bring natural light into the heart of the school. Outdoor features will include a running track surrounding an OFSAA-size soccer field, an outdoor basketball court, gathering areas, and bicycle storage, supporting both academic and extracurricular use of the site.
Located at 576 Borbridge Street in Riverside South, the project continues HEIN’s relationship with the CECCE following recent elementary school projects in Orléans and Riverside South. As HEIN’s first high school project, École secondaire catholique Riverside-Sud marks an important addition to our education portfolio and supports the continued growth of French Catholic education in Ottawa’s south end.
